Meet the Staff

Jo Bonfield - Manager

I’m Jo, the Manager of Stourview Wellbeing Centre.

Prior to this role, I was volunteering at “The Link” in the High Street as a listener and signposting. I had been unemployed for about 18 months after having to leave a job as a Senior Support worker, due to health reasons.  I have always worked in jobs where I am able to support and help others.I trained as a Person-Centred Counsellor over 30 years ago.

My own lived experience of mental health issues makes me extremely passionate about supporting others.  I share the frustration of many about the services available or not being available, there is a harsh reality that mental health doesn’t wait for an appointment and often arrives unannounced and sometime unexpected.

Taking this role has given me the opportunity to help bring the much-needed services, particularly for mental health support, to Haverhill. Having a building that they can all work under the same roof is amazing.  We have many skilled people working at the Centre and there is always someone to speak to.

As sometimes you just want to be heard. If people leave Stourview Wellbeing Centre feeling better than they did when they come in, then I know we are all doing a good job.

Phoebe McKay - Deputy Manager

My name is Phoebe and I am the Assistant Manager here at Stourview Wellbeing Centre.

I’ve always been passionate about supporting people and making a positive difference in my community. Before joining the Centre, I worked in a role where I supported individuals through difficult times, helping them access the right services and providing guidance when they needed it most. That experience strengthened my belief that everyone deserves to feel heard, valued, and supported.

Joining the Centre felt like a natural next step. I love being part of a place that brings people together, helps tackle loneliness and isolation, and provides opportunities for people of all ages to connect, learn, and thrive. Every day is different, and I enjoy meeting new people, building relationships, and helping create a welcoming environment where everyone feels at home.
